depends: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is an expectorant designed to make mucus "more liquid" so you can cough it up. If your physician has prescribed this of course continue its use. However, if this is something you heard about , talk it over with your physician. It may or may not be for you. Good luck.

Not should but can: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is Guaifenesin which liquefies secretions and allows you to expectorate bette if there is a need for it. It does not need to be constant.
