May be: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is not main treatment of copd. COPD is treated with inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled steroids. But main treatment is. Quitting. Smoking. Mucinex (guaifenesin) is just additional treatment to help bring up phlegm.

Ok: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is high dose robitussin. It causes cough, but does not break up mucus. You need pfts and possible bronchodilator therapy.
