sometimes: It is not indicated for any dementia; and some controvery and opinions exist about the limitations when using benzodiazepines in older patients; but still, it can be used to address certain symptoms (like severe anxiety) if the potential benefit outweigh risks, in the eyes of the prescribing dr. It is not routinely prescribed for this, ask the dr for the reasons in this particular case.Best wishes.
