Can klonopin be used long term for severe panic disorder ? 0.5 mg twice daily. is that a good dose to cover 24/7? will it always work if it worked initially or will the patient develop tolerance and panic will worsen requiring an increase in dose?

Panic Disorder: I understand your distress due to panic disorder. Taking Klonopin for long time will lead to Tolerance so the same dose will not be effective. Panic Disorder is treatable with good results by: Counseling Medication Breathing Relaxation Catharsis of feelings of traumatic experience Desensitization.
