Cold: If it is acute- shortly after exercise- ice works better. Be sure you are drinking enough water. After a couple of days, heat may help.

Ice: In my opinion ice is superior. It works on trigger point, decreases inflammation and you will be able to use the muscle and ultimately get back to normal. I do lots of manipulations on biceps and ice is part of my work.
