See below: Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin. No 'worms' are involved. Treatment is topical antifungal preparations that you can buy over the counter and apply to the involved skin several times a day until 1 week after the rash has resolved. You can use the same treatments that are used for athlete's foot. Fluconazole will also be effective if topical treatment fails.

"ringworm"?: First, get a diagnosis. "Ringworm" is not a medical term. Usually it refers to tinea corporis. which is a skin fungus. MOST of the time such a diagnosis is wrong. If it is not fungus, fluconazole will not be effective. Tinea corporis is transmitted from a cat or another person. There are several treatments. Fluconazole may help but is not usually the best choice.
