Depends: If you have a history of heart disease with no recent ekg, then it might be a good idea. But cataract surgery is gentle and non-stressful. The old rule of doing routine ekgs (and chest xrays) on pre-cataract surgery patients no longer applies.

Depends: Pre-anesthesia evaluation usually assesses the need for one based on age and medical history, cardiac exam, etc. Cataract surgery performed topically is very low cardiac risk.

Depends on you: Depends on your health and your surgeon's requirements. Most of the time a pre surgical ekg is not done, but they may monitor your heart and ekg during the surgery.

Usually not: Unless you have unstable severemedical issues, preoperative labs and ekg are not needed. It is up to your surgeon though.
