if i'm allergic to fish, can i eat frog?

Probably: If you have safely eaten frog in the past then you can eat it, no matter what other things you are allergic to. If you have avoided it due to being allergic to fish, the risk should be low. They are different, one is a fish and one is an amphibian.

A 30-year-old member asked:
Is there a reason why I am allergic to fish but not shellfish?

Dr. Douglas Berson answered

Fishy allergies: Fish and shellfish share few allergens. Usually we divide seafood allergies into three categories: crustaceans such as crab, shrimp and lobster, mollusca including clams, oysters and mussels, and finned fish such as salmon and tuna. Within each group people often react to many or all of the individuals. While you can be allergic to all three groups, there is little cross-reactivity between them.

A 23-year-old male asked:
How can I test to see if I'm allergic to fish and sushi?

See allergist: Your allergist should be able to help you on this. Do note that an apparent fish reaction may or may not be from allergy to fish since allergy to parasite in fish as well as adverse reaction to spoiled tropical fish can mimick fish allergy.
