What happens to teeth if you need jaw surgery but don't to the jaw surgery?

Depends: It depends on the reason you need jaw surgery.Tooth loss, airway problems, TMJ problems, are just some of the problems. For a definitive answer, ask the dr. That recommended the procedure!

Depends: Orthodontics and orthognathic surgery are elective. Malocclusal problems do not mean you are "sick". Surgery can be very beneficial, and not doing it will allow continued attrition of the teeth, stress on jaw joints, possible constriction of airway: the list is endless. Try and do a cost:benefit analysis. Wonderful when it will be of great help, but not without risks.

Complicated: Complicated question. Depends on your circumstances. Have complete exam and discussion with oral & maxillofacial surgeon. In your age category, you may have sleep apnea. If so, questions should be directed at sleep doc.
