Swimming: Swimming is an almost ideal form of exercise as it is good for the cardiovascular system and will not stress the joints the way running does. You can also do gym elipticals and bicycles as an alternative.

Cross training: Better to cross train- swimming, running, biking, and weighs. Can do the other three without running. Swimming is really the best- less joint impact and full body.

What you like...: As long as it is active, and you keep at it. Walk (like you're late for a job interview), dance, bike, row, play handball, basketball, skip rope, swim, whatever.Swimming is excellent cardiovascular, low stress on joints, but not weight bearing, so it won't help bones.
