A member asked:

Out of 4 anas 3 came back positive .rhumathologist thinks lupus but not 100% sure? what could i possibly have and is there blood tests to figure out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Trust your doctor: The ANA is a screening test for lupus but it not specific for that disease. It is positive in numerous other diseases and sometime even in people without any disease. Its importance must be determined in the context of the clinical symptoms. Other more specific blood tests may help.
