Oats ; cholesterol: The research on this is interesting. Many of the available studies have been funded by cereal companies -- who have interest in finding good reasons for people to buy their products. Still, most of these studies show a decrease in total and low density lipoproteins (ldl) cholesterol with oatmeal foods than control foods: http://tinyurl.Com/k3wp25y if you eat it, get the low or unsweetened kind.
