Incompetent LES: Les(lower esophageal sphincter) normaly keeps stomach acid in the stomach, it is located where esophagus meets the stomach.It opens to allow the food in the stomach or to permit belching and then it closes again.But if it does not close tight enough the stomach acid finds its way in the esophagus and cause heartburn.It can be exaggerated by certain food, obesity, smoking, alcohol intake etc, can be tre.
