My chest xray has shown a "tortuos aorta'. no one seems concerned about it but me.i'm 66 - and have a hiatel hernia. could the two be related?

Not related: You have a hiatal hernia. You have a tortuous aorta. The two are not related. The aorta has turns in it that are being commented or described by the radiologist. Ask you doctor, the person who ordered the study, to tell you why they ordered the ct scan. Then ask them what was found. So long as the aorta is not enlarged (dilated or aneurysmal) then it is normal.Hope this helps.

Not related: THe two problems are not related. A tortuous aorta tht is not enlarged significantly is not a great concern. In general there is nothing to worry about if the aortic diameter is less than 5 cm and intervention in the chest is not recommended in most cases unless diameter of 5.5-6 cm NO dilation no worry
