Foot/Ankle Swelling: The #1 reason for bilatteral foot and ankle swelling is that our veins begin to weaken and not do as good a job moving the fluid back to the heart. This can be helped by 4 simple tricks--low level of support hose, reducing salt in the diet, getting some elevation when we sit or lay, and doing 10 ankle pumps (moving feet up and down) every couple hours.
