A member asked:

Can elevated hs-crp mean dementia?

Hs-crp: The test is non-specific and is done to look for inflammation. The hs ( high-sensitivity) part is done to look for coronary artery disease as well. Best wishes.By the way, the connection between hs-crp and coronary artery disease is still not well understood.

No: Dr jacobson is correct. CRP is a nonspecific marker for inflammation and is used in a limited way in medicine. At this time there no lab tests we can order that show a person has or will develop dementia. This is an active area for research so this might change.
