Many physicians &: Psychologists are trained in hypnotism. If one is open to power of suggestion then they may well be good candidates for hypnosis. In that case, no medications are indicated. However, some people are not easily into a hypnotic state. I have never drugged any one to hypnotize them.

Hypnosis: Lots of myths re hypnosis. First, all hypnosis is really self hypnosis. Nobody can "put u in a trance" ; make u do things u wouldn't otherwise do.We go into trance many times each day ; call it daydreaming, spacing out, etc. Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused attention in which deeper parts of your mind can make decisions ; commitments. Usually no drugs are used but see dr jacobson's post.
