RLQ pain: When an abscess forms after an appendectomy it usually causes continued pain in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. The pain can be in the midline or even a bit to the left depending on the abscess location. There is usually tenderness to palpation, fever and an elevated WBC count. A ct scan of the abdomen and pelvis is the best diagnostic test.
