Possibly: It is never a good idea to share toothbrushes because germs can be transferred to each other. Be real and get your own toothbrushes!

Don't share: Yes, you can 'catch' gingivitis from sharing someone else's toothbrush. You expose your self to whatever bacteria and/or viruses they have in their mouth so you could possibly catch any communicable disease that the other person has had in the past 7-10 days. Get your own toothbrush.

Don't share!: Probably not gingivitis, but you are sharing bacteria and that could lead to different diseases, such as periodontal disease, fungal disease, recurrent viral infections, strep throat, etc. Don't share toothbrushes.

Of course: You can get gum disease from kissing, or even by sharing a drink , sharing your toothbrush or utensil. Gingivitis is a serious problem, which should be diagnosed professionally by a dentist. Dentists frequently give out free, regular toothbrushes after regular cleaning.
