Depends: Really depends on fracture location, in regard to the hip anatomy. The manner of fixation and/or repair is determined by this fracture location, which then completely determines the expected recovery. Repair can include pinning, plate fixation, rodding, and/or replacing. Healing and/or recovery can be any where from 6 weeks to 4 months.

3 months: It is difficult to give an exact time for complete healing because of numerous variables such as fracture type, repair technique, location, and other patient medical conditions. Most fractures of the hip will heal within 3 to 4 months to be off crutches or a cane, although full healing for full activity (age 46) may be a full 6 to 9 months. Good luck.
