How do braces close spaces?

Gentle pressure: Braces simply apply a gentle pressure to the teeth. The teeth respond by slowly moving in the direction of the pressure. Typically, we can use elastics, rubberbands, or wire springs to apply the pressure. Invisalign uses clear plastic trays for the pressure.

Elastic chains: We use elastic chains from tooth to tooth it is stretched between the teeth and as it contracts over time it brings the teeth together.

Orthodontics: Orthodontics is a science of using subtle forces to move teeth to create a beautiful and healthy smile and bite. These forces can rotate crooked teeth and adjust your bite to correct your bite. These forces are used to close spaces between teeth as well.

Force: The "medicine" we use in Orthodontics is light continuous force which remodels the bone around teeth.
