What are the possible causes for pain and fluttering in my ear?

Different ideas: Pain in the ear can be from infection of the external or middle ear. If your hearing is no impaired, then you may have referred pain from the jaw joint, jaw muscles, teeth, neck or throat. Fluttering is unrelated to pain and may be spontaneous contractions of one of the two middle ear muscles. The two symptoms are most likely unrelated.
