MJ &amp; Zoloft (sertraline) ?: There is no technical interaction between these two. In some states, it is legal to prescribe marijuana for treatment of anxiety. However, marijuana can also exacerbate anxiety &amp; depression. I note you also mention that you suffer from breathing problems. Smoking marijuana may be doing you more harm than good. Talk with your doc about your use, and get recommendations abt what's best 4 u. Be well!

Likely: Since the drug is illegal on a federal level there is only modest if any research on its interaction with prescription drugs. It leaves the body over time &amp; buy after heavy use that may take a month or more. After that piont there should be no residual.

No, worsens sx.: If you are taking Zoloft, I assume it is either for depression or anxiety. The very symptoms you are trying to treat can be worsened by using cannabis in any form. You effectively negate the purpose of your medicine and worsen your underlying condition .

can i drink and/or smoke marijuana while on effexor (venlafaxine)? i switched from 200mg zoloft to 75mg effexor (venlafaxine) just yesterday for anxiety cuz zoloft wasnt working

Not wise to combine: Effexor (venlafaxine) affects levels of neurotransmitters in our brain & caution should be taken when combining it with any other chemicals that affect our minds. Not benzo's.: Hello - long term use of benzodiazapines can lead to tolerance. Marijuana can cause marked  psychiatric problems in some people including anxiety, psychosis & paranoia. Paxil can be used long -term but most of my patients have experienced more side effects with it then from Lexapro & zoloft.  I see you are on Lexapro -it has an excellent side effect profile. Buspar (buspirone) is very safe for long-term use.

NO NO NO: Why do you want to use Marijuana?
 It is addictive drug. It is  "recreational " drug. You are young and healthy . You can do recreation by exercising, Sporting, Hiking, Singing, Dancing, Reading and learning new things NOT by Experimenting with Marijuana.

Drug dependence is the body's physical need, or addiction, to a particular substance, in order for the person to feel like she is functioning normally. Over time, drug dependence leads to physical harm in the user's brain and body, to behavior problems, and to association with people who also use undesirable substances.

Cannabis & serotonin: Cannabis can increase serotonin levels, and definitely should not be used with ssri's like zoloft (sertraline).  In fact if you've been struggling with depression and/or anxiety, using any additional drugs is a really bad idea.

You can, but don't: Of course you are in charge of what you do or don't do.  But i suggest refraining from marijuana if you have a history of depression and are on zoloft (sertraline).  It doesn't matter that you're "experienced with pot smoking.".

Unclear: Medical marijuana is legal in several states, and many pts are convinced of benefits in headaches and other pain syndromes.  Yet, research, to convincingly prove benefits in the treatment of pain, are lacking.  Therefore, we may be seeing merely placebo effects due to the effect on mood and behaviour.  Eventually, i suspect that organized medicine will rigorously evaluate this, but no proof so far.
