How effective is marijuana as a painkilller?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Unclear: Medical marijuana is legal in several states, and many pts are convinced of benefits in headaches and other pain syndromes. Yet, research, to convincingly prove benefits in the treatment of pain, are lacking. Therefore, we may be seeing merely placebo effects due to the effect on mood and behaviour. Eventually, i suspect that organized medicine will rigorously evaluate this, but no proof so far.

Good: Clinically, I have found it to be very effective. And, it is affective for pain even in the forms that don't cause you to be stoned.
