i have yellow pus in the back of my throat.i went to the doctor today and my strep test was negative.what do you think i may have?

Post nasal drip: as summer starts the allergy season is more common than a bacterial infection.  Fevers, malaise, loss of appetite, painful swallowing would go along with a bacterial throat infection.  This time of year post nasal drip would be the alternative thought.  Try using antihistamine or Claritin to dry up and if throat is better than plan for next year as well.

usual lymphoid tissue back of throat, but one lump is yellow and pus filled as opposed to flesh coloured .. what is this ? no pain.

Pus in lymph  node: Would follow up with   ENT doc , may be post nasal drip, a tonsillar stone or may be an abscess  that needs drainage. I have seen abscess that caused change in voice without  pain. but it needs drainage.

Sounds like: you have chronically infected TONSILS ("so called CRYPTIC" tonsils..These would produce negative cultures at this point! Surgical removal is the treatment of choice although some recommend LONG TERM ANTIBIOTICS. You need the opinion of a Board Certified ENT (Ear Nose Throat) SPECIALIST...

Not likeley, see PCP: for consultation, tests and evaluation. Fortunately, most throat problems are caused by a minor illness and go away without any medical treatment.

Hard to say: I can't link your two symptom areas without bringing up the possibility of a STD, which would not be found on the tests you mentioned.The puss in your throat could reflect a sinus infection with drainage or just a bad viral infection. The origins of feminine discharge are numerous and defined best with appropriate study of the discharge.

At your tonsils?: Hard white or yellow concretions in the tonsils are usually tonsilloliths or tonsil stones. Harmless although they can cause a foreign body sensation and contribute to halitosis. Exudate on the tonsils or throat may be an indication of tonsil infection (viral or bacterial). See a doc for thorough exam.

Infection or"stones": Infections and the most common things that can cause white "pus llike" stuff in the back of the throat. Sometimes it is from debris that forms "stones", whitish lumps that can get lodged in the throat and can lead to bad breath and throat irritation but are usually not painful.
