An early upper respiratory infection.: This sounds like an early upper respiratory infection. To treat this gargle with some warm salt water, put 1 teaspoon of salt in a large glass of warm water and gargle with this. For the nose saline nasal spray that you can buy over-the-counter can be used three or four times a day no other treatment is necessary.

have a sore inside nose @ opening. it is raw & sometimes bleeds, little mucus draining not unusual, dries out & hurts. sometimes there is yellow mucus when nose is blown.  have to wear a mask 8hrs a day.  what can i do to heal it? does mask cause it?

: No caused by mask. Are u using CPAP nose pillows?  They can do it. Trust u have not been sniffing cocaine?  Need lots more information to be able to help.

Not possible to say: without looking at them.  Most likely local irritation and dryness, but you need to make sure it is not more serious condition.  Show them to your doctor or ENT specialist just to be sure.

Allergies : Allergies cause itching & tearing. Over-the-counter allergy medicine & eyedrops help relieve it. Zaditor (ketotifen) is a good eyedrop. Blepharitis also causes itching & this can you can try loraditine (claritin) or other previous prescription anti-allergy meds.  Check with your doctor if you have any medical conditions or are pregnant.

3 yr old has fever and hoarse voice dried green in the nose yellow discharge from eyes in the morning. no cugh brother has strep. is this also strep?

Unlikely: Based on the symptoms you mention, a viral infection would be more likely for your 3 yr old. Depending how the diagnosis of strep was made for your older child, he may or may not have the same thing. Hope they're both feeling fine soon!

See below: Yellow or green mucous is not concerning.  If there was only a bit of blood streaking, the source was probably a slight bleed in the nose mucosa.  If it continues, get seen, otherwise, using otc meds can help.

The phlegn: you describe ..yellowish with blood is often a sign of BRONCHITIS, a superficial infection of the tubes which carry air into your lungs. A culture of the sputum and/or a chest x ray may be indicated. Consult your PCP!

sore throat, cough, fatigue, sinus pain 2 weeks ago. feeling great now but still have slight cough and some yellow mucus in nose. am i still infected?

Accepted Answer

Not likely: You most likely have some remnants of the sinus drainage from when you were ill.  Stay hydrated and take lots of Vit C and Zinc to help your immune system.  Look out for fever and worsening symptoms (cough; sinus pain; etc) as signs of regression of your sinus infection.

what could cause bloody crusty sores inside nose?

Lots of stuff: Could be anything from allergic rhinitis to cold sores to mrsa. Start with over the counter antihistamine and nasal saline spay daily. If after a few days it's not improving go see your doctor for further evaluation.
