While the: Normal range varies from lab to lab, your results are all normal. Why were they drawn in the first place. There are not as important as more conventional thyroid lab such as free T4 and tsh. Check w/your doctor.

Q: i'm only 24, and tysabri (natalizumab) has been my miracle drug for ms. but, i've just tested positive for the jc virus. do i continue? what is next best options?

i have ms and have results of a wbc of 15k, rbc of 5.28mill/ul, hematocrit 46.6% and absolute neutrophils of 12, 615. please advise. ?

Incomplete info: Do you have fever? An elevated WBC counts suggests infection, however, it is not feasible to diagnose that without examining you. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that.

my lymphs are 19.4, my absolute lymphs are 6.7, and my neutrophils are 6.7.   what does this mean?  i also may have ms?  what do these labs mean?

Not much: This means that 19.4% of your white blood cells are lymphocytes, and 19.4% of your total WBC is 6.7.  I doubt this has much to do with ms.  Talk to your doctor.

i have ms and had my baclofen increased at night from 20mg to 30mg for night time spasms. two days later i'm experiencing strong spasms in my foot. can this be a result from the med increase? thank you

Unlikely: Oral Baclofen may or may not be useful in pts with chronic ms, and that is often a rationale for the Baclofen pump.  It would be very unusual for an increase in dosing to cause worse spasms, and there may be comorbidity problems creating these setbacks.  A urinary tract infection or even thrombophlebitis could exacerbate spasticity.  Suggest checking for new problems.

if my lymphocytes are elevated and monocytes are decreased in my csf hematology results from a spinal tap should i be concerned? the tap was to rule out ms, what else could cause the increase and decrease in these levels?

Nonspecific: Increased lymphocytes in spinal fluid can be seen in many disorders including viral infections and MS. If MS is the primary concern, tthere are more specific tests and relatively precise imaging  studies that can be done

can i take tamiflu if im on ms drug tysabri (natalizumab)?

Yes, but see below: We have good evidence that flu vaccines with dead viruses are effective with tysabri (natalizumab)..  Tamiflu is an antiviral med that may alleviate some of flu symptoms and shorten duration, and would be unlikely to cause problems with tysabri (natalizumab).  Might be wiser, though, to get a flu shot, and avoid nasal vaccine, as it is a live attenuated virus and adds risk.

Use the drug: Acthar's value is to act like a steroid, but may be beneficial in cases of bad steroid reactions, or ineffective outcomes.  Downside of high cost, but can be self injected over 5-10 days, and will have equal efficacy, and similar side effects to oral steroids.

what are the side effects for taking oral ms drugs as opposed to copaxone (glatiramer) and all the other injectable drugs.

Accepted Answer

Complex : All ms drugs have potential side effects, and Copaxone has injection site reactions, lipoatrophy, an occasional chest/flushing reaction, and of course, the need to inject.  All three orals are well tolerated in most folks, but tecfidera may cause severe nausea, diarrhea.  Better tolerated might be Gilenya (fingolimod) or aubagio.  Talk to neurologist about your best approach.
