Not necessary: Minor cuts should heal quickly on their own.  You could gargle with warm water.

i was told i could use contact solution (saline solution) to clean my newly pierced ears. is this a good safe idea?

No problem: Contact saline is sterile and to the extent that cleaning a fresh piercing helps with the healing, those solutions are a good way to do it.  Make sure you move the keeper in the piercing several time per day which will encourage the clean out and healing.

is it okay if i use a saline solution for nasal congestion while i am on benzonatate ? the medication said may cause nasal congestion.

Several things: You need to be thoroughly evaluated by your doctor.  Only then can you find out what's going on and what can be done for you.

Accepted Answer

Infected ear piercin: Yes. However if redness and pus develops see your doctor for a bacterial culture and an antibiotic. Also, after you clean it with peroxide, put on a topical antimicrobial agent such as polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) ointment.

i ran out of the saline solution that i was given to clean my removed ingrown toenail area. is it ok to use alcohol on it now?

What to use: I would soak it in warm water and epsom salts instead of alcohol.

U can use nebulizer: U can use nebulizer on ur 2 month old child. Have u seen a pediatrician about her problems? U need to find a cause if possible. Are u breast feeding or is she taking a formula? If formula, changing the formula to a soy formula may reveal cows milk allergy. If she is wheezing with whistling sounds then the albuterol will help. Because of her age u shd take these actions with guidance of her doctor

Dry eye: Saline solution and plain water will usually burn because they are not buffered for the eye. Artificial tears are almost always properly buffered. If they burn when you put them in, it is usually because the eye surface is very dry to begin with. I would recommend putting in the artificial tears on a regular basis. After a day or two the burning should stop. If not, you need an eye exam.

Cerumen impaction: How have you cleared your ear canal the last 3 times? Its best to have your ears cleared by your ENT otherwise, you can irrigated or flush your ears, the risk is that if you leave wet cerumen in your ear canal, you are at risk for an infection. If you have ever been told you have a hole in your ear drum, do not irrigate. Never stick anything into your ear canal, especially no Q-tips.

Wound care: Sounds as if you have done the right things. Hopefully your tetanus vaccine is up to date. If not, go and do this. Watch the wound for signs of redness, heat, tenderness or areas of hardening of the underlying tissue and if these things occur, see a doctor ASAP. Best wishes.

The : The only way your nasal saline rinse could be coming out of your ear is if you have a hole in your eardrum.  Many people have holes in their drums without having any symptoms, so this is a definite possibility.  If it's not from a hole in your ear drum, the fluid is most likely coming from your canal and can be caused by either retained water from a shower or swimming or a canal infection.  All of these conditions need to be diagnosed by an ear exam and then can be treated.  Your best bet is to contact your doctor for an exam.
