: Perhaps

Initial symptoms (none, perhaps low fever or swelling of lymph nodes or rash or fatigue or feeling poorly etc, etc) usually appears 2-4 weeks after infection but VERY variable and may not appear for months.  Seroconversion, even with 4th generation assay, appears over the same time (2-4 weeks).  Either one may appear slightly before the other

At least 4 weeks: Modern elisa tests are considered accurate at about 4 weeks, but testing protocols usually check at 3 months as well, just to be safe (with  prophylaxis, there is another check at 6 months).

One hundred percent: The 4th generation HIV tests are also called &quot;duo&quot; or &quot;combo&quot; tests because they include two tests in one:  HIV antibody and p24 antigen, a protein in the outer coat of the virus. These tests become positive within 4 weeks of a new infection. Once positive, the test remains positive for life. There are no exceptions.

: NGU is not a part of signs of acute symptomatic HIV infection.  Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Ureaplasma urealyticum has been implicated as an etiologic agent of NGU.

: Your bodies response to Covid would not alter the blood pattern for an HIV test. The immune system responds to separate infections in ways specific to the illness under study.

i had protected sex a little over 6 months ago. got the 4th gen hiv test done around 32 days after the protected sex. was non reactive. i am experiencing flu type symptoms now could it be from an hiv infection?

: Of all people with "flu type" symptoms, HIV is the cause in under one in millions of cases -- even in people at high risk for HIV. And you definitely are not at high risk, having had a) protected sex and b) a negative test that is around 99% reliable. Don't worry about it.

: The AgAb test (same as "4th generation") is best and much less expensive than PCR.
