Weigh the risks: With any surgery there are risks and benefits of performing the surgery.  With reconstructing the vaginal area your daughter could have infection, scarring, loss of sensation, etc.  Visit with a Gynecologist and Plastic Surgeon to determine if surgery is the way to go.  Many procedures performed by Plastic Surgery are not covered, check with your insurance first.

GYN exam: prominent labia is not a disease per se. Get a thorough pelvic exam by your GYN to rule out any infection, inflammation, cyst or abscess formation: a labial surgery would be a choice of last resort.

No: If done correctly there should not be any change in color. There several techniques for labioplasty. One of them will preserve the labial edges, if that is your concern. Other patient may not like the color of there labia. In this case labiaplasty can be done in a way we eliminate this edges.

Ask surgeon : Not all surgeries are the same.  Ask your surgeon. I usually recommend 6 weeks

No: Genital mutilation as still practiced in some african countries is distinctly different than labiaplasty

labiaplasty can be done to improve the cosmetic appearance of the labia minora.  Labiaplasty can also result in functional improvements (less pain during sex, able to wear bikini, ride a bike, etc).

Labiaplasty: Reducing the labia will not affect your sui.  If you leak you will still need to wear a pad if your leaking is significant.  By the way, your sui can be easily treated with a simple, safe, and effective procedure called a mid-urethral sling.

Many : Improved cosmetic appearance of labia

if the woman has painful intercourse, problems with hygiene, difficulty wearing bikinis, pain while on an exercise bike, these complaints may be resolved with labiaplasty.

Yes, : Yes, it can be performed with local anesthetic or as part of another procedure under the same anesthetic.

You : You most likely won't feel like having sex for 7-14 days but you should probably avoid trauma to the area for at least 4 weeks. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon for their advice.
