Anti inflammatories: Acute gout causes swelling and pain in a joint like the big toe. It is common for docs to treat it with a med like indomethacin (a prescription NSAID).  Chronic gout can cause uric acid deposits in joints to develop called tophi. These are not often painful but can cause swelling in joints that don't resolve right away. Talk to your doc to discuss these issues and treatment options.

Histamine is a chemical in certain cells called mast cells and is released when there is an allergic reaction such as hay fever.  Histamine causes some inflammation which is why our noses get red, congested due to swelling of the mucus membranes.  If the swelling is due to something else like trauma, heart failure, vein disease, then it is of no benefit.

Add NSAID: Unless contraindicated, using an NSAID either topical like Voltaren gel, or oral like ibuprofen or naproxen should resolve the pain and redness, the colchicine should resolve the cause for this inflammation, but not all,the inflammation, as you discovered. Also review foods to avoid when you have gout. Good luck
