Sometimes: Head ct and MRI can show shrinkage in certain brain areas, if that is extensive enough.  However. Deterioration of brain function in the form of dementia -- including alzheimer's -- develops and impacts the person's behavior long before physical effects show up on ct or MRI scans.  These scans would be only part of a workup for possible dementia, not the whole of it.

: You  been diagnosed with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and are concerned about thechances of developing Alzheimer's disease. MCI involves memory loss and other cognitive difficulties that are greater than what would typically be expected for someone of the same age and education level. While MCI does increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, no guarantee that this will happen

: If under care of a neurologist pl stay with her/him. The progression or stabilization of this can not always be predicted. So only time will tell. Lead a normal life and wish you good luck

Do not worry: First, it says "possible", whatever that implies.  Second, there is no comment on other areas of brain, so, there is NO clearcut disease correlation.  Third, age-related would refer to older adults.  This kind of reading is NOT acceptable to me, as it unnecessarily raises inappropriate concerns. White matter stuff. : White matter abnormalities as you have described can be seen in various conditions such as vascular disease, vascular dementia, multiple sclerosis, Lyme disease and migraine headache. And of themselves, these do not diagnose somebody with Alzheimer’s disease. However, they may require further investigation into their specific cause.

Not great at all: Mri scans of the brain are usually done as part of a dementia workup, but if within normal limits it doesn't rule out dementia.  Cognitive and memory changes can be happening long before physical changes show up on an mri.  The more definitive findings are on clinical interviews -- with specialized neuropsychological testing may be helpful also.

my father 73 had alzheimer. towards mri doctor said he had it approx 5-6 years. i read that alzheimer can be hereditary and might not be. which are the differences between both. how can i know if i am at risk?

Advice: Do you have intellectual or memory difficulties causing concern?  Do you wish to undergo extensive and expensive testing to uncover potential issues which may or may not occur?  You could contact a local medical school, see an experienced neurologist, or even undergo neuropsychological testing.  You could also consider virtual consultation here at HT.

Brain MRI: Brain MRI is not a perfect test by any means, but it can help  with the diagnosis of ms. Alzheimer's doesn't have any diagnostic features on MRI except for brain atrophy, which is non-specific sign and can be seen in a host of other conditions. Brain damage is a generic term that suggests many causes some of which may be established by MRI while others may not. It'd be nice to know your symptoms.

i have too much csf in the ventricles of brain as  shown on mri now being referred to neurologist what is cause could it be alzheimers?

Not sure: This could be secondary to volume loss that frequently occurs as we age.  It could also be "normal pressure hydrocephalus".  The size of the ventricles is not related to alzheimer's however.

i have had tremors in my right hand since i was 8. no other symptoms. had a recent mri for vertigo. was normal. is this a sign of alzheimer's or ms?

No: If your MRI was normal, this is not MS.  Highly unlikely that you have alzheimers at 25.
