my heart rate skyrockets when i exercise. today i did jumping jacks for only a minute and my rate was at 180. is that really bad? i'm 23 years old

Out of shape: You need to start doing regular exercise- whatever you like--walking, running, swimming, aerobics etc- at least 30 minutes a day. Then you can increase it gradually. The situation like you described is very common to happen when you are out of shape and your body is not well trained/maintained. Don't be discouraged- instead use it as a motivation.

Needs checking: You need to see your MD to have a good physical - maybe even an EKG. Make sure you are off caffeine - no monster drinks!. If you have chest pain, dizziness or feel faint during a cluster of irregular heartbeats seek emergent evaluation.

hi i workout 3x week and i was wondering after jogging 2miles, push ups and sits up my bp is 109 64 heart rate 172 are these numbers normal? help!

It seems that your: heart rate is a little high and your BP is a little low. This is most likely a reflection of dehydration. Otherwise they are reasonably appropriate for your age and activity level. You should hydrate more.

Normal heart: range can go from 50 to 100. Exercise/movement will increase it. The more physically fit someone is, then the lower the heart rate and less effect mild exercise will have. Someone who is overweight will often have quite a heart rate rise with minor movement.

when sitting still, apple watch heart rate jumping from 90bpm to 39 to 80 to 45 etc within seconds. only stays at low bpm for 5 seconds or so. usually stays around 70-80bpm but then will start to have quick dips before stabilizing again. concerning?

: You're better off learning to take your pulse as you can't hang your hat on those rapidly fluctuating pulse rates. You'd need to wear an outpatient cardiac monitor for 24-48 hours to get accurate heart rates and rule out arrhythmias when your watch is demonstrating widely varying pulse rates. I think your watch isn't sensing accurately at times.

Heart rate exercise: Yes this is normal. You might want to go to Wikipedia and look up exercise and heart rate. They will give you a chart that relates the amount of exercise to your maximum heart rate by age and gender. Can go up to 140 with good exercise depending on how fit you are. Would double check the FitBit heart rate by checking it yourself as well. Sometimes not so accurate.

Heart rate increase: Yes this is normal. Exercise places additional demands to get blood, etc to the muscles. So the heart rate increases to meet this demand.

should i be worried about a sudden rapid heart rate after jumping?

Possibly: It is difficult to know the mechanism when someone  feels a rapid heart rate. It is normal to note a more rapid heart rate during exercise, but unusual to feel a sudden onset of rapid heart rate following exercise. An evaluation is indicated. Often times this evaluation will include attempts to record the heart rate at the time of these symptoms.
