help docs! i'm trying to find out what causes a vein to protrude on the side of one's forehead?

Yes: Visible veins on the side of the forehead are normal branches of the superficial temporal vein.  They are noticeable on people with pale skin and also those without very much subcutaneous fat in that region. They are normal and require no therapy.

They do not pose a health risk.

I don't know but you seem to have some anxiety about stroke
The veins in forehead are nothing to worry about

Numerous things: Headaches need proper evaluation by a physician. Hypoglycemia can cause them; unilateral throbbing headaches can also be migraines; being misaligned can cause headaches. Medications can cause headaches as well. He needs a thorough history and physical to understand the nature of them, try and determine cause and then offer appropriate treatment.

Venous pain r head: May be ear ache, can be rarely aneurysm, migraine, ( asocaited with light sensitivity , nausea? HTN? may be vascular  Consider testing sed rate  as it may be temporal arteritis, for which ultimately a biopsy is done.  Would go to ER as at 44 the study the would do first CT or mRI can't be done in a clinic . Go to ER today

Neuralgia : You  may have a neuralgia which is an inflammation of the nerve trigeminal nerve in that area I would suggest you get an opinion from a physician

Evaluation: Difficult to assess by your description. But any mass, with or without pain, should be evaluated.  By your description it sounds like its involving a nerve.
