Depends: A lot depnds on your diet. Firsty modify it to something simple like simple starches, avoid acid foods. Try the brat diet, bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast. If it persists see you doctor. Sometimes the diarhea may be a symptom that needs to be investigated further.

Exam: And general diarrhea persists for more than two weeks even without symptoms of fever chills or bleeding should have a physician about waiting to check for infection or other causes

Go 2 the doctor!: To rule out infectious diarrhea. If you have Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter or Clostridium difficile or infection, using medication to reduce diarrhea can be life threatening. See a doctor right away. After you have been evaluated and proven to have a non-infectious, non-inflammatory diarrhea, then your doctor will recommend a treatment. You need a dignosis before a treatment can be prescibed

Sx relief: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks.  Sip often to prevent dehydration. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy &amp; high fat foods. Rest.

Don't . . .: If you were to 'take something' to make it stop, you may end-up back where you started--with constipation. You simply need to allow it to 'wear off'.  Drink plenty of fluids to reduce the chance of mild dehydration. Also, if you have constipation type IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), there are treatments that your doctor may be able to offer you. Best of luck.

i took a laxative/ bisacodyl 5mg and now a have diarrhea that won't stop and i had mucus in my stoop is that normal ?

Bisacodyl: Bisacodyl stimulates enteric nerves to cause colonic mass movements. It is also a contact laxative, increasing salt and liquid secretion. This dose should not have produced continuous diarrhea with mucous.  Why does a normal 24 yo woman need laxatives, and what else may be going on?  See a GI doctor if this does not clear up in next day or so.

my 10 month old baby has a chest infection that he has been given antibiotics for. he now has diarrhea. he will only drink his formula and won't eat. what can i give him? should i stop the antibiotics?

Mgt.: Diarrhea often occurs as a side effect of the antibiotic, or   as one of the symptoms of the illness. 
Continue the antibiotics and a non milk based formula may be used, in addition to Pedialyte. Yogurt with active cultures and rice cereal may also help. Please see you PCP when available.

i just took 5 immodium and my diarrhea won't stop, i have to travel 3.5 hours, will i be okay if i take one lomotil?

Diarrhea treatment: Imodium is the generic name of lomotil. They are exactly the same thing. Now as to what is causing your diarrhea. I am not sure, but you should be seen by a sharp internist and sit down with him/her and give a good history and a good physical and some appropriate lab work. Then you can decide about your European travel plans!

See an MD: Most self limited causes of diarrhea such as viral gastroenteritis and food poisoning will resolve in less than 1 week.  There are many causes of chronic diarrhea such as infections caused by giardia and cryprtosporidium-inflammatory bowel disease-malabsorption etc.  Get checked out.
