Better asthma contro: Exercise is a very common trigger of asthma and sometimes despite taking albuterol before a work out, this is not enough to prevent symptoms.  Checking peak flows before and after a work out may assist in determining if this is asthma or another condition.  The pain/discomfort will likely persist unless the underlying cause is treated.

Maybe a "stitch": It may not be related to asthma. To prevent this from happening, avoid eating just prior to running, breath deeply through your mouth, avoid carbonated drinks, avoid cold weather running, start out at a slower pace, and use good posture while running. Good luck and run on!

Not to worry: The lung has a slick lining called the pleura.  There is a fluid that lubricates the interface and occasionally a small area is either irritated or for some other unknown reason the fluid is temporarily absent and the lung sticks. &gt;&gt;&gt; sharp pain with inhalation which is lung movement.

Cardiologist : I recommend seeing a cardiologist ....The cardiologist can put you on a treadmill and see hat your heart looks like when it hurts... Have to make sure heart is getting enough oxygen during stress... If your heart is ok, then anything else it could be, will likely get better.

Chest pain: Consider asthma. Asthma can cause airway obstruction, and can cause shortness of breath, chest burning and cough. Your doctor can do a couple of simple tests to determine if this is your problem.

Docs can only Guess: Pain in a muscle probably relates to use & fact that all muscles, during contraction, block their own blood flow. With more contraction than relaxation, muscle may become sore. Remember: mds did not design or engineer human beings & are taught basics of partially understood body functions with primary emphasis on signs, symptoms & theories of advanced disease (health excellence never mentioned).

Certainly possible: You should get this checked out by your pediatrician, but if you also have nose symptoms like congestion and sneezing, or eye symptoms like itching and redness, seeing an allergist would be the best idea - to help prevent developing asthma as an adult.

Many causes: There are many potential causes.  It is possibly hyperventilation (anxiety related), deconditioning (meaning you conditioning level is not good), vocal cord dysfunction, reactive airways. The best way to figure it out is have a treadmill test with cardiorespiratory monitoring, spirometry and possibly albuterol administration to see if it improves pulmonary testing

Coughing blood?: If you are coughing up blood, called hemoptysis, you need to be evaluated by your doctor. The most common cause is bronchitis but malignancy needs to be ruled out. Gerd can cause bronchospasm, like asthma does, but neither should cause you to cough up blood. If you are short of breath or coughing up large amounts of blood, then go to the er. If you smoke, you need to quit asap.
