i took a nap & i woke up dizzy i measured blood glucose level it was 42.i took sugar, but does this means that i have hypoglycemia awareness? & shouldn't my body wake me up at level of 60?

: The more time your blood sugar gets low, the less your body is aware that it is low. If you have diabetes, that is a problem when your body is not aware that it is low.

A few minutes: It would depend on the type of sugar taken. Ingesting glucose would raise it the fastest. 
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

How low?: Hi. Many people call things "hypoglycemia" that have nothing to do with blood sugar. Are you a diabetic on blood sugar lowering drugs (particularly insulin)? If not, you probably don't have low blood sugar. If you ARE a diabetic on insulin (or less likely, a sulfonylurea), You should check your blood sugar when you think you might be low. Talk with your doctor about a good goal BG range.

Raise your sugar : If your blood sugar is too low and you take a sugar pill, your blood sugar will rise. However, if you are chronically getting low sugar levels, you should talk to your doctor about adjusting your diabetes medication.

Treat Hypoglycemia: The sugar you take gets absorbed to the blood stream, in the mouth and the stomach.
It would take 3-4 minutes for symptoms to improve and for the blood sugar to build up

Low blood sugar: Magnesium should not be an issue but low blood sugar is worrying.
Do you have diabetes and occasionally overdosing with insulin and/or diabetes medications, or do you have low blood sugars without diabetes medications?
For now, please check your blood sugar on alternate mornings and evenings - one check a day.

do nightmares have anything to do with hypoglycemia? im not diabetic but i struggle with symptoms of low blood sugar. im not being treated as my parents dont really take my medical problems seriously if they dont know a lot about the condition?

: Hypoglycemia can be a problem. Talk to your parents/Dr about getting your blood glucose tested. Any reading below 70 may indicate that you have hypoglycemia. Nocturnal Hypoglycemia can cause nightmares, but if testing reveals normal glucose, it could be something else.

every medication my diabetic mother tries to take for acid reflux causes her to have low blood sugar. what medicine can she take that won't do this?

Other meds?: In order for a diabetic to have low sugars, they have to be on a medication for diabetes that can cause low sugars (insulin, glyburide, glipizide).  If she is not on any of these meds, she may feel like her sugar is low, but if she measures it, she will find that it is not low.  If she is on these meds, her dose needs to be adjusted so that her sugars do not become low.

is it safe to take metformin while on a very low-carb diet?could it cause low blood sugar?i'm on victoza (liraglutide) too.so far, no low bloodsugar symptoms at all!

Of course!: Metformin is the most commonly prescribed medication for people w/diabetes -- many who are on low carb diets. Neither metformin or victoza (liraglutide) should predispose you to low glucose.
