i fractured 4 metatarsals 2 months ago and my ankle and foot are still swelled.  is this normal and what can i do to treat it.?

I would have : The foot re xrayed and see how the metatarsals look. I would consider an elastic ankle support for the ankle swelling. 4 metatarsals at one time is a lot of bones to break so some residual swelling at 2 months is not that uncommon. You do not state what treatment has been used. I.E if your walking on it etc.

The swelling: may indicate a partial ligament tear.  Sounds like an MRI may be indicated.. Start with an in person visit to your Primary Care Provider!

Ankle pain: Ankle sprains often do not heal quickly because people walk on the ankle. Much more information is needed to answer this.  What is important is to understand is why you have a "high temp" -is it a fever (temp 100.4 or greater)?  Is it possible infection or fracture not seen on the original x rays?  Look up Ottawa rules

Difficult to tell: Clinically, it is difficult to differentiate an ankle fracture from a bad sprain.  A rule of thumb generally used is that if you can bear weight or walk, it is less likely you have a fracture.  If you have continued pain it is best to see a physician.

i fractured my ankle i think it is fibula almost six weeks ago  still in cast but when i walk it swell's bad and hurts to the point i have to lay and elevate is this normal? also it hurts worse on the other side of ankle wise than fractured side?

: If your healing process is not proceeding as planned, it is appropriate to contact your orthopedic surgeon and get this re-evaluated.  In some cases Complex Regional Pain Syndrome may interfere with recovery, and if this is present, you need diagnosis and intervention ASAP.  Hope this can be reversed readily.

Activity: Unfortunately, injured ankles will continue to swell for months after injuries. The longevity of edema correlates with the severity of your injury.

: Indefinitely depending on preexistent circulation issues and overall damage to the ankle, hardware used, etc, the affected ankle will remain prone to swelling and among all activities seating will be the worst in causing swelling, unless you are able to keep it elevated.

Yes: It could be fractured or a severe sprain. It is best if you are seen and evaluated.  Homeopathic arnica and bryonia can also help....Still be seen.

It could...: If there is associated swelling causing some venous congestion.  I would see your orthopaedic surgeon to find out is this is anything serious.
