Prevention: If you are at risk of mi or stroke, your doctor will want you to take precautions against either.  Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation thus preventing a clot from forming.  Causes of mi and stoke include clots.  No clot, no stroke or mi.

Start with : Tylenol (acetaminophen), (acetaminophen) assuming you don't  have a reason you can take this like liver issues.  Otherwise, review this with your cardiologist as many  patients taking aspirin use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or Naprosyn for minor pains that don't respond to Tylenol (acetaminophen).

i have been on plavix since my first stent, in 2004. i had four more stents. could having five stents account for why my cardiologist keeps me on plavix? i also take 81mg enteric coated aspirin daily. is this too long/too much? nosebleeds in the past

Don't stop taking!: Stents are vital to keeping your blood vessels mechanically open, but the presence of any foreign structures can also cause cell breakdown and therefore blood clots. Plavix and Aspirin make sure that dangerous blood clots do not form at the sites of the stents. You will need to take these meds for the rest of your life. If you are experiencing frequent nosebleeds or excessive bruising talk to Dr.

All of them: Abciximab as well as Plavix (clopidogrel) and Aspirin were all given during pci.

hello. how can a lay person (me) who is on both plavix and 81mg aspirin tell between normal/typical/expected reactive bruising and bruising which is more atypical/unusual/unexpected and would warrant a consultation with an internist or cardiologist?

Bruising: Both Plavix and Aspirin work by inhibiting platelet function. Inhibited platelets means that your blood can't clot as easily. Bruising is unfortunately a common side effect. Call your Dr if dark purple bruising extends more than 4 inches in any direction, continues to enlarge, or when you press on it, feels like there is liquid under the skin. Also watch for pain, swelling and throbbing sensation.

how to find an inguinal hernia surgeon who allows me to continue aspirin? i have stents, and my cardiologist is adamant that i continue my aspirin.

Not a problem: It shouldn't be a problem - most surgeons will allow you to continue Aspirin - if yours won't after you've asked him/her specifically about it, choose another surgeon.

i just got diabetes type 2,i  am on  2 blood sugar pills jardiance 25mgx1 and janamet50/1000. i have afib so cardiologist said i should be on  eliquis 2x. is eliquis safe and better than  aspirin 81 thank you?

A fib: In my opinion aspirin is not enough protection for the development of clots in the atria during atrial fibrillation and most clinicians would recommend anticoagulant therapy with warfarin or eliquis class of anticoagulants in view of your age and presence of diabetes. There is more chance of bleeding events while on anticoagulants than aspirin,but I would listen to your cardiologist for guidance

is it safe to take "baby" asprin while breastfeeding?  i am worried about increasing the risk of reye's syndrome in my nursing infant.

Caution advised: Aspirins use during breast feeding viewed with caution. Ibuprofen has a similar anti -platelet effect as baby Aspirin but is considered safe.

any selective beta blocker alternatives to metoprolol xr for diabetic patients? also on lasix (furosemide) that causes hyperglycemia and ototoxicity? alternatives to ask cardiologist? any non-nsaid antiplatelet (non- aspirin 81 mg) for ckd patient?

Discuss with your MD: Metroprololxr is a good beta blocker&amp;is very well tolerated.There are other options but they are all have same action and side effects.Only Carvedilol is different as it is both alpha and beta blockerLasix is well tolerated. Can be ototoxic in high doses and if combined with other ototoxic drugs . Ototoxicity is rare. Aspirin is safe asking as no contraindications . Discuss your concerns with MD

Not recomended: Aspirin when given during certain childhood illnesses can cause rye syndrome.  If baby has fever best to go with tylenol (acetaminophen).
