A member asked:

I just got diabetes type 2,i am on 2 blood sugar pills jardiance 25mgx1 and janamet50/1000. i have afib so cardiologist said i should be on eliquis 2x. is eliquis safe and better than aspirin 81 thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A fib: In my opinion aspirin is not enough protection for the development of clots in the atria during atrial fibrillation and most clinicians would recommend anticoagulant therapy with warfarin or eliquis class of anticoagulants in view of your age and presence of diabetes. There is more chance of bleeding events while on anticoagulants than aspirin, but I would listen to your cardiologist for guidance
