Avoid lows: If you're having overnight hypoglycemia and you have diabetes, then your doctor may need to adjust your medication to prevent the overnight lows.  Feeding diabetes really isn't the goal when preventing a low is the best option.  Please discuss with your doctor.

U can't with a low: If you have a low blood sugar in the middle of the night, you have to treat it. That would put a kink in morning fasting labs. My concern would be to prevent the lows; you shouldn't have to feed your diabetes to get thru the night. The problem is to sort out why you're having overnight lows and prevent them. Please discuss with ur doc. Fasting is going 8-12 hours without food.

If you are: Overweight, you probably have developed Insulin resistance, and what you are experiencing may be a return of your blood sugar to normal after excessive Insulin levels. If so, ; you have a family history of diabetes, get instructed on a diet, exercise and weight loss program. Check w/your doctor -- metformin may help prevent progression to true diabetes. It's a progression, not a sudden diagnosis.

No set amount: There does not seem to be a set amount of apple cider vinegar dosage that you should drink for health benefits. Since there's no hard and fast rule it appears you could take about 2 teaspoons a day of apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water or juice. Too much ACV may have some adverse side effects. Also, please stay in touch with your Family Doctor to make certain your blood sugar is OK.

Yes: The cause of his high glucose should be determined right away. If he is taking insulin the dose will need to be adjusted and a follow up appointment with Endocrinology is suggested.
