can a 5.4 cm fibroid sandwiched between the bladder and uterus cause bad pain? 65 yrs old and having pain for 1 month in the lower left abdomen. have had 3 d&c's in the past for problems. hysterectomy needed?

It definitely can: Other causes aside from fibroid cannot be ruled out. Your best reference regarding decisions about hysterectomy will be your Gyn  and/or primary care doc who can look at films in dynamics/ progression and try to link them with your symptoms and physical exam.

Ask the surgeon: You need to ask this question to the surgeon who is doing the surgery whether he/she is going to do abdominal, laparoscopy, robot assisted or vaginal hystrectomy.

can large fibroids that are pushing into the bladder cause leg/foot swelling? i have had left leg swelling and just found out about the many fibroids i have outside of the uterus pushing on my bladder?

Leg swelling : Large fibroids can restrict the flow of lymph from the legs and cause swelling. There are many other commons reasons for leg swelling which are connected to fibroids;such as a large lymph nodes, heart, liver, kidney issues, leg clot, protein malnutrition, lymphedema

who do you go to if your bladder has dropped and needs to be fixed? i am a female in really good health but had a complete hysterectomy in jan.1992; now 20 years later, my bladder has dropped into my vagina area.  this causes my bladder not to drain well.

Go see OB/GYN: Prior hysterectomy is a risk factor for vaginal prolapse.  Go talk to your ob/gyn and ask about options such as pessaries or surgery.

Gynecologist: Bladder prolapse is not unusual at your age. many factors can go into the severity of symptoms and grade of the prolapse. If not severe and bothersome would not do too much with this. Follow with your gyn for usual care.

Suspension: A uro gynecologist is best for these problems but you have a few options. Do nothing or have a bladder suspension surgery. That will pull the bladder back up resolving your situation.

?symptoms: What symptoms do you have? I find it difficult to believe that scar tissue from 45 years ago just started giving symptoms now.
