49 yo f dx w uti wk ago. ecoli via c/s. cefzil worked for 2 days. cipro now, 24 hrs in. feeling slowly better. small brownish debris in urine tonight that is somewhat hard/solid. held its shape collecting it for lab. from uti or is it a stone?

: I think it may be a stone as a blood clot wouldn't be hardened. Was your urine culture positive with over 100,000 colonies?  Uncomplicated bladder infections from E Coli should be easily treated by Cefzil. Could your symptoms have been caused by a stone in the bladder? Perhaps you have had both a stone and a UTI.  Your MD will advise you.

3 yr old daughter has quite a lot of bits of sediment/debris  in urine is this normal should i be concerned? she is otherwise healthy and in good form.

Urinalysis : There can be multiple reasons for sediment in the urine, some concerning and some not. It is hard to decide without formal lab tests that can be performed by your GP/pediatrician.

good afternoon doctors. when i urinate, i notice white pieces or white debris in and at the bottom of the toilet. what could these white pieces possibly be? also, the urine appears to be quite bubbly?

: Persistent bubbles in the urine can signal a significant amount of protein in the urine, which usually indicates significant kidney disease.  The nature of the observed debris can be assessed by a microscopic analysis portion of a urinalysis. See your doctor or schedule an evaluation by a urologist or nephrologist.

Probably ok: Your urinalysis is most compatible with a contaminated specimen, especially if you do not have symptoms. Your best move might be to repeat the test as a midstream or as a catheterized specimen.

Malignancy: In your age group (27 is correct, yes?) not terribly high for malignancy but not out of the question. benign tumor (non-cancer) or functional cyst is much more likely. Clinical history would be very helpful, blood testing sometimes too.  Very dubious that it would cause urinary frequency. Hope this help!

have taken 9 of 14 pills of macrobid for uti. pain gone, still have urgency and debris in urine. this is third round of meds. something else wrong?

Could be: If you have recurrent urinary tract infections it may be due to an anatomical anomaly. It is time to consult a urologist for an evaluation.

: Frequency and foamy urine are not the urinary symptoms of multiple myeloma and renal amyloidosis. Unfortunately, there is no typical urinary symptom of this condition. The presence of heavy protein in urine is one sign (not symptom) but not typical of MM or renal amyloidosis because many other kidney diseases also cause heavy proteinuria. MM and renal amyloidosis always affect both kidneys.

See below: A urinary tract infection would be the most common cause to explain this combination of symptoms and urine culture is most accurate means of UTI diagnosis. The presence of blood in the urine (hematuria) especially if visible is also cause for concern. Stones and/or tumor need to ruled out. Recommend urological evaluation which may include blood tests, U/A, urine culture, CT urogram, cystoscopy.
