i am working out and really watching what i eat, why am i not losing weight i just started 3 weeks ago and i been really busting my but why can't i drop weight, i been big all my life and i hate it, what am i doing wrong?

Keep : Keep up the good work. It may be a month or two before you see results. Also, the fact is that in order to lose weight, we have to burn more calories than we eat. I recommend keeping a food diary to track how much you are eating. It is also recommended that you record your workouts. After some time, if you still are ot seeing results, have a personal trainer assess what you have been doing.
Keep the following in mind:
1. Don't under-eat. If you body thinks it is starving, it will retain body fat
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Make sure you do a combination of cardiovascular exercise and weight training. Weight training helps build muscle. As your muscles heal from the workout, you burn caloreis all day long
4. Keep a record of your food intake and exercise activity
5. Get lots of rest - atlleast 8 hours of sleep

Keep food journal: Keep a diary of everything you eat combined with the physical activity you engage in.  There are several possible reasons - you may still be eating more than you think , you may be building muscle (heavier) while losing fat, or there could be an underlying medical problem.  Keeping a food journal will give you the answers.  Try choosemyplate.Gov for an online journaling program.

Exercise: It may be your exercise choices and your diet/hydration.  Keep a running count of your diet and calories and continue to boost your exercise routine.  Don't increase the time of exercise but the intensity of it (using weights, etc).  Hope this helps and good luck!

Diet: The biggest factor in weight loss is control of your diet. No amount of exercise or supplement can overcome poor eating. You need to closely monitor how many calories you take in, and spread those calories out into 6-7 small meals throughout the day. Keep trying!

There are far too: many questions here for us to address in 400 characters or less. Recommend that calories burned exceed calories in. Drinking at least 8  8 ounce glasses per day is important for both hydration and weight control. Try to get in whole foods (fiber) as well as 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day. Physical activity is essential. At least 8 hours of sleep per night helps.

Look for cause : there are many causes for weight gain. Three common causes are low thyroid PCOD and insulin resistance. Check out for these causes and go on low carb diet remember you lose weight in kitchen not in gym! Hope it helps you

Follow the math: One must consume fewer calories than she uses or else she will not lose any weight. Even if she is eating apparently small amounts of food, and moving a lot, the laws of nature do not change... meaning there will not be weight loss until the number of calories taken in to one's body is less than the number of calories burned up each day. This is always true for "normal, healthy people."

If you, indeed, are having this issue, then by all means, call or visit with your surgeon and get your questions answered.  The surgeon deserves the courtesy and you certainly do.  Take a list of questions you think of regarding your surgery and post operative period with you to your visit.
