Hard to Say: Do you have a habit of biting your tongue? Did you traumatize that side of your tongue recently? How long has this been going on? It can be trauma, oral cancer, auto-immune disease (ie. Erosive lichen planus), etc... See your dentist soon for an evaluation.

White spots: How long have they been there? How large? Do you use tobacco products? Answers to these question would help with guidance. Without them, suggest you see an oral surgeon for evaluation.

White spot : Could be something called leukoplakia. You should see a dentist to have it checked out.

Cheilitis: Cheilitis is the label applied to inflammation of the lips.  When it occurs in the corners/angles of the mouth it is called angular cheilitis or angular stomatitis. It is fairly common. Nutritional (iron/B vitamins/folic acid) deficiencies are thought to be causes, as is allergy (contact with something irritating), &amp; infection (yeast, staph, strep). I might suspect infection with the white spots.

Not cancer: Cancer  does not come and go. Canker sores are tender. Are these tender? White spots can also be  yeast. You need to see your physician who can clarify the diagnosis.

i just got done drinking a margarita and now the right side of my tongue is sore with some large swollen white spots. it only happens after margaritas?

Margarita sore/ swel: May be an allergy. An  allergist can test . Also get the ingredients to determine  which component. Any issues with tequila/agave before or cointreau or oranges/beets?  Always have benedryl 2-3 pils on you and take when developing a reaction to anything . Avoid margueritas ( tequila/ cointreau)  for now f/u w/ allergist.

Sore tongue: There are many causes of what you describe. It sounds like a combination of normal or inflamed papilla, scalloped tongue and perhaps some other issue that needs to be treated. It requires that you actually see a dentist to evaluate and diagnose these conditions, and treat accordingly if warranted.

See PCP: How long have they been there? Any discomfort? Can you brush the back of your tongue and it goes away? It could be yeast.  See pcp for further test.

just finished a z pack for strep throat. the white spots are gone from my tonsils but a painful yellowish area remains on the side of my throat.

Needs evaluation: Usually tonsillitis and ear infections "feel better" within 2-3 days and viruses typically don't last more than 10 days.  You should return to the doctors office.

vomited friday evening after i had too much to drink. i habe now got a sore throat on the one  side for the past few days. no fever no cough but i have noticed some white spots on my uvula today. should i check this out?

Check again in 24hrs: Alcohol consumption can lower your immune system leading to easier infection. Vomiting brings acid up from the stomach which can cause a sore throat. Not sure what the white spots are, but if they continue for more than 24 hours and your symptoms worsen, you should have them looked at.
