Observe act if need: Spider bites can often become infected. First i would recommend that you put tea tree oil or vinegar on it and keep the area clean. If the redness starts to fade then you can just watch it. If it grows larger then i would have it checked for possible need of antibiotics.
If the spider was seen and you know it was not a brown recluse or black widow then just observe.

See a doctor!: Painful insect bites deserve attention because they can be infected - red, warm, tender. This is even more important with possible spider bites as the infection can lead to tissue necrosis. Please see a doctor ASAP. An ER visit may not be necessary. An urgent care center or virtual consult may suffice. You will likely receive an antibiotic, anti-inflammatories, and lots of reassurance. Good luck!

No: Need wound evaluation and culture of any fluid in hole. Could be MRSA and not a spider bite.  Any urgent care can evaluate if you can't see your primary care provider in the next 24 hrs.

Bite: Since you're not experiencing any systemic symptoms and there is no current spreading redness or other inflammatory changes around the Bite site, I think you can sit tight at this time . Apply an antibacterial ointment like bacitracin to the bite and observe for any signs of inflammation like spreading redness which would necessitate a visit to a clinic.

: Antihistaminics are not likely to be helpful and may just cause side effects. If the inflamed area doubles, an abscess forms, you get fever,  discharge develops at the bite site, if would be prudent to see a doctor.

why do spider bites take so long to heal?

Normal healing rate: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.
