Brush biopsy: Could be trauma or something else. You can get a brush biopsy and find out what it is. Easy and painless and then you will know.

See an Oral Surgeon: You should see an oral surgeon to evaluate that area on your tongue.  It might be something benign that does not need treatment or it might require a biopsy to determine exactly what it is.  Even benign lesions can lead to more serious lesions and therefore warrants a definitive diagnosis as soon as possible.

See a doctor: How do you know it's not thrush?  But no way to know without an examination.  In the meantime, Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort, soft foods, avoid anything acidic or spicy.  Popsicles for comfort.  But see a doctor.

Variant of normal: It's not uncommon to have these bald or smooth areas on your tongue.  It may be in one spot or several and may even vary from time to time.  One such condition is called geographic tongue.  It is completely benign and nothing to be concerned about.  These areas lack the normal papillae of the tongue.  It's always best to have a dentist take a look just to be sure.

Tongue Lesions: Greetings. The most likely diagnosis would probably be traumatic bites that would occur while you are asleep. Especially if they are in the areas of denal occlusion. Viral oropharyngitis and glossitis also possible. Seeing your ENT will surely help identify the etiology. Good Luck

Most of the time they are benign lesions.

a very small area of my tongue indents on its own, like spasm,then slowly releases.it's always the same spot, and it can last for hours.it doesn't hurt but i feel it and i can see it.like indent appears then releases multiple times. what causes this?

: I’ve never heard of this before but consider it may be a simple muscle twitch that may mean you need more sleep or a mineral such as potassium.
