See an Oral Surgeon: You should see an oral surgeon to evaluate that area on your tongue. It might be something benign that does not need treatment or it might require a biopsy to determine exactly what it is. Even benign lesions can lead to more serious lesions and therefore warrants a definitive diagnosis as soon as possible.

Erosive candidiasis: You may have erosive candidiasis. This is a yeast infection that eats away the small hairlike projections called papilla on the tongue. Another reason is geographic tongue. Which is benign. Please see an oral surgeon or an oral pathologist to rule out cancer and make a definitive diagnosis.
