i have a dull pain in my pelvis! i'm 24 female, terrified i have ovarian cancer.. gp apt next week.. suffer serious health anxiety. help me please ?

Very rare under 40: Do you have a family history of ovarian cancer? There are many non-serious causes of pelvic pain in women your age. Ovarian cancer seems like a really remote possibility given your age. It typically occurs in women over 40, half are over age 60. Be calm and wait for your check up. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

i have anxiety disorder routine cbc ok urine  they found trace of protein and blood and ct scan abdo pelvic was normal should i worry ?

Don't worry: Don't worry, but follow up with your doctor to make sure all bases are covered.  Let your doctor do the worrying, if any is to be done.  Trace of blood and protein is abnormal, but physical trauma (like being hit in the back, etc) could cause that result.  It may not mean any ongoing illness at all.  Talk with your doctor, and ask all the questions you need to.

have lupus.had surgery to remove large borderline tumor, cyst, and fallopian tube from pelvis. now have health anxiety for love ones. is that normal?

Yes: Your reaction is a normal one. However, if it interferes with your daily living, you may need counselling. There may be a SLE support group in your town and you may wish to participate in some group activities for support.

i have had thoracic pain off and on for several months. had ct scan of abdomen/pelvis in november. mri of thoracic area two weeks ago. had chest ct scan last march. all tests were normal. am worried this pain is cancer. have alot of anxiety?

: There are many reasons for pain that have nothing to do with structural injury or cancer. Nevertheless, I would speak with your primary care doc about your concerns. If they can assure you that the full workup for cancer is complete, then I would seek alternative explanations for your pain.

Gynecologic: Consider being seen by a gynecologist for a full pelvic exam and ultrasound to ensure that you don't also have an ovarian cyst or a pelvic infection that could be causing a problem for you.

i had a full hysterectomy 1 year ago.
i have discomfort in my pelvic region.   could a relapsed bladder be the cause of discomfort or could it becaused by constipation as i suffer from ibs as well?

Bladder pain ?: At 56, and without oral hormone supplementation, post-hysterectomy prolapse (lack of support for the bladder dropping the bladder on abdominal strain) will cause what you describe.  See your gyn provider for advice on estrogen supplementation, or even surgical repair of the prolapse if found.

Cortisone shots: MAY produce some anxiety but your perception/expectation of that happening is also a factor.  Report any side-effects to your doctor but watch your "self talk."  Remember that the shot is there to help you feel better by reducing inflammation.  Peace and good health.

how do you know if you suffer from anxiety or depression? i tend to feel down but i remind myself i'm strong, so how do i know if thats not enough?

You ARE strong. : You are unlikely to be suffering from a clinical anxiety or depression disorder. Visit your physician if you are concerned or have questions.

In the short term no: But in the long run it would be good for your overall health to learn ways to manage the anxiety. Psychotherapy has gotten to be incredibly effective for anxiety. im on 10mg amitritpyline x1 a day at bedtime for ibs-d. works great, can't function without it. but i suffer from anxiety. can i take 20mg celexa (citalopram) too?

Probably : You would certainly want to check with your doctor but with such a low dose of elavil, adding Celexa (citalopram) would probably be okay. It would also depend on what other medications you take and on any allergies you may have.
