was hit on my ear and it feels like middle ear infection. very little hearing in one ear and the other one as well now. can i do something at home to make it better?

Little of use: You can always sit back &amp; see if the issue will pass. The body does have a great ability to self heal. Moist heat to the side of the head can transiently decrease discomfort.However, without an exam &amp; maybe some tests it is hard to know if the issue is insignificant or one that will lead to long term problems.

i have been having middle ear infection on and off now for the laat 3 months. everytime there is a build up which causes the glue ear. painful, irritable and cant hear. i am 28yrd old, is grommets an option for me? or is there a different solution?

Maybe/not: Grommets are most often of value in little kids whose Eustachian tubes are small, short &amp; swell closed easily with various factors. By the teen years adult head size is present as are the relative mechanical factors that make glue ear less likely. If/when it persists for 3+ months without clearing temporary grommets may help but an ENT may have other options to offer. I would visit one to see.

it's 2 weeks since my l middle ear infection, i can pop my ears and hear much better but when i swalow i hear quite a prominent popping/clicking sound? is this the fluid still there or something else? i hear it when i do the valsavar maneuver as well

Eustachian tube: dysfunction is what you have, saline nasal washes can help, if problem persists, you need to see an ENT specialist, best wishes

Few ideas: The Azithromycin will likely help.  For now try Ibuprofen 600-800mg every 6 hours, a humidifier in your bedroom and give it some time.

Cholesteatoma: See your ENT  specialist about the possibility of a cholesteatoma and possible surgery.

OK for school: I would go see your physician for an ear, nose, and throat exam. They may be able to give you some medications to help treat the middle ear infection. Typically, ear infections are  not contagious so you should still be able to go to school.

Yes: Popping indicates that the perforation has sealed and the eustacian tube is now functioning, allowing air into the middle ear to replace the infected fluid.  You are on the way to recovery.

Etiology: Almost all middle ear infections result from a viral infection in the back of the nose.  This, in turn causes swelling of the tube that connects the back of the nose to the middle ear space.  The virus should be eliminated in about 7 to 10 days.  However, at your age of 44, a bacterial superinfection may require an antibiotic and may last for many weeks.  See an ENT doc for evaluation.
